Car won’t accelerate

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima today I was getting off
the highway and my check engine light came on
immediately after the car became very jerky and the
rpm gage was going up and down between 1000
and 5000 then I noticed I was losing power when I
went to accelerate the rpm would go up but my
speed wouldn’t go over about 40 or 50 and then
when coming to a stop my car either won’t
accelerate at first or accelerate very slowly. It also
started jerking when going a little over 40 before it
stopped letting me
Going over 40 what could this be?
