Thanks jonathon did a visual check all seemed to be intact no broken wires all contacts in plug ok not sure what to check for with multimeter any advicoe would be appreciated
Did you clear the fault code after you changed the knock sensor? If you did not, it will keep coming up as faulty
Yes and i reread the car now convinced the knock sensor has activated now I am struggling to locate where the knock sensor reset button is located any ideas anybody any info appreciated
I would have thought that all should have been reset with the ecu, given that the battery was disconnected. If it wasn't try it now. Are you sure that the timing belt is ok, is the head turning along with the bottom end? The knock sensor alters the timing to take it as near to knock, or retarded ignition, this causes better fuel burning and consumption. The key elec. components for the engine to fire up at least, are the cam and crankshaft sensors. Are you getting fuel to the engine, if not, take off the air intake filter, and put some WD40 directly into the intake manifold, then try and start the car. If the engine fires up for a few seconds, your fault is with the injectors/fuel system. Send me an email to sam.rowan@yahoo.co.uk and I will send you a link for manuals, download it and it might just help you out. I added more files to the folder last night, did not have them all in it unfortunately.
