Rebuilt title on a 2015

Asked by JackJamie Dec 15, 2016 at 06:58 PM about the 2015 Nissan Altima

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I want to know what a 2015 Nissan Altima with a
rebuilt title is worth.  It has 61000 miles and was
hit in the rear. I just wonder if it's worth buying.  It's
a 4 cylinder.

For a new car to be totaled means the damage was severe. An old car could be totaled for a dent in a fender but a new car totaled means that there was major damage. That car may drive sideways down the road for all you know.

This car was not totaled. A totaled car cannot be rebuilt and titled anywhere. The term "totaled" means that it would cost more to repair the car than you could sell it for. If you buy this car, offer the seller two thirds of what Blue Book lists it for. Blue Book gives wholesale prices. If they don't go for that price, move on to another car. If you can't get it dirt cheap, don't buy it, because you're going to have to sell it yourself someday.

Larkin ---- That is simply not true. A "totaled" car simply means it costs more than it is worth to fix. Anyone can buy a car and fix it but it will have a salvage title. http://www.insurance.com/auto- insurance/auto-insurance-basics/totaled-cars-and-titles.html
