Clutch replacement next day hole in rad

Asked by Judy Dec 12, 2018 at 03:51 PM about the 2014 Ford Focus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Clutch assembly for 2014 Focus was replaced 11 December 2018 less than 24
hours later there was a leak in the rad. Dealer said it was not covered under
warranty or maintenance package. Claims it must have been road debris
possibly a stone that caused the hole. Seem odd to me.

If your car has A/C, and I'm sure it does, then the radiator is protected in front by the A/C condenser (looks like a radiator too) and no way a stone could hit it from the front. They probably banged into the radiator with tools or whatever while working on the clutch assembly. A car that new rarely develops a leak from corrosion or cracking of the plastic sides. If you see physical damage, it was them, not the stone that did it.
