Can anyone tell me what this is?

If the transmission light is on you should have a transmission shop check for trouble codes.

A manual transmission car with a transmission light? Interesting. I would check or change the oil level and check the clutch hydraulic fluid.

I think it's the transmission light it's only comes on now and again but more as the weather haa got colder

Scan for codes and see what comes up. The light may mean something else.
