Air conditioning

Asked by Lisa Jun 17, 2019 at 02:33 AM about the 2011 Ford Fusion

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Same as the other Ford Fusion. My air
conditioner works fine for a minute and
then turns hot and then you turn the key
off and turn it back on same thing
happened. What do I do? I put freon in it
and it was fine. It used to do it once in a
while now it's doing it all the time since it's
hot out.

Could be a couple of things, if you're charging the a/c yourself, or having a friend do it? Like buying it the rightfrom auto zone(do it yourself kit they sell there) you have to make sure you get right one if it just needs a charge ,do not buy the one with Freon&oil!as long as you have never had a leak in the system were a part had to be replaced you only need Freon! If you buy the Freon&oil you will lock the system up with oil& it will pump about 15 seconds and seize up on you.then you'll have to drain the whole system, empty all the oil and charge the system properly!!if that's not the case you have a couple of relays that operate the compressor and other components in the system it could be one of them. I hope this helps! .
