My 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT timing belt broke as I
was merging into traffic is the engine shot Or can it
be fixed

It all depends on how much money you want to put into this vehicle if it is just the timing belt should not be that much but if it bent some valves you are looking at much more.

Google if this engine is a non-interference engine or interference? Interference engines most of the time have engine damage.
