Door chime

Asked by marySENA Nov 06, 2014 at 04:19 PM about the 1998 Ford Windstar

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can the door chime be turned
off..maybe pull the fuse even...it goes
off nonstop whenever the keys are in it
or even if just the drivers door is open
and the keys are not in it. .I was trying
to clean the carpet on drivers side with
door open and it is going non
stop..there is no little button in the
door jam, or I would have just taped it
in.. Im not sure that (if I find the right
fuse )if it will be ok to pull it. I t seems
to b the only way to shut the thing off..

There is a lot of stuff under the dash, sounds like the chime is somewhere near the bottom of the steering column, what does it look like ?

The door chime speaker it's in the instrument cluster. You have to take it out and take the back off of it and I just popped the speaker off now l no more chimes at all. So nice
