Problem with getting the truck into gear.

Im having trouble with getting my truck into drive. its a 1985 K10 with an automatic. I can get it into park, reverse, and neutral no problem but i have trouble getting the shifter down to drive and the low gears. i think i just need to adjust the shift linkage but does anyone else might know whats up with it.

possible shifter rod (bent) or steering colume jamming up. is it a tilt colume

unhook your shifter rod from the tranny. block the wheels ,then see if your trany shifts from park too low. if it dose its probley your steering coloume.
