Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1970 Mgb roadster with right hand drive.  The car uses 2 six volt batteries.  What is the proper way to jump start it from a 12 volt battery?  Can someone help?

I have done it that way in the past and burned up the 2 batteries. I was told there neg cable should be hooked elsewhere. Do you know anything about that?
