idle

Question type: General

Car runs great! However when I take it on long runs and come to a stop sign
the idle wants to go down until the car stalls. The car is NOT over heating. All
lines have been insulated with 2000 degree heat sleeves. Car the so far will
start right back up. Do not have a clue.

Yes Mark thats what I thought at first and running 93 octane,,,it still does it.. Starts great,, runs great as I said run it for 50 miles and stop got to watch the idle as it comes down hit it a few times trying to catch it before it dies and then it is fine.. its got me. I am going to get the carb rebuilt some time..I can live with it as long as I watch it . I have had 2 other spits before a 65 and a 78 and never had this issue...

Yes it has been updated as far as I know. I also did every thing I could do to prevent vapor lock and got that solved. As I said all line have dragster sleeves them to keep fuel cool. Painted the bottom of the carb with high heat paint except for the plug at the bottom . rework the heat shiled and put the dragster shielsd in between the plates of the heat shieds. , new fuel pump, new sending unit. new radiator.. you nmae I have done it..

All filters have been updated to new. I adjusted the idle up some to help this and that did help somewhat.

Ok thanks Mark,, I am wondering if it has a very very small hole in the diapraph. Or however you spell it. I think I will rebuild the carb the carb this fall as I want to drive it. I also got to get my new windshield wiper motor put in and new gear. That had me for a little bit as why would they put bushings on the shaft of the gear that were steel on steel? DUH! They rust! The new motor has a bronze or a brass bushing now which will work alot better..take care Mark..Thanks..
