Get it scanned for diagnostic trouble codes, there might be a clue there. Most major auto parts stores will do this for free.

The codes read mass airflow sensor or egr valve. Changed the airflow sensor but the problem persists. Can I bypass egr valve?

We have a 2004 ford freestar started doing these exact same issues driving 55mph. Started shaking so we came to a slow. Then it died. Oil light and wrench light and battery light come on. Car would start do samething die in 5 feet. Had it towed home. Hooked my scanner tool to it. Read mass air flow sensor. Did some digging because this is a code it throws. It was the it had gotten wet. I disconnected it removed it let it dru for one hour. Reinstalled and have had no issies since. Ot was raining hard that day. Check your pcm.
