Check engine light

Asked by GuruWL6YX May 04, 2018 at 09:33 PM about the 2008 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Honda civic.. my a/c hasn't worked
since I purchased the car 5 years ago but never got
it fixed - it just blows hot air when turned on. I read
some things that It could be a relay switch problem
, so I tried switching the a/c switch with an
identical one to see if that was the problem  and
then switched them back to the original spots.
When I turned my car back on my check engine
light is now on. Please help! I don't want to take to
a dealership and pay an arm and a leg for a
possible minor fix.

When the AC is "on" does it sound like it's kicking on? That could tell you if it's a relay issue.

Exact same thing here with the same car, It has to be something relay related... Please share more info soon, fix It already?

Bring the car to a auto parts store like Autozone, they will scan your car’s computer for error codes for free. That will help you properly diagnose why the check engine light came on at least. Does the a/c compressor engage when you switch it on from the controls? Have you ever tried to evacuate the a/c system and replace the drier filter canister and have the coolant recharged?
