Question type: General

to they go to one side?

If they are grounds then they go on the ground side of the battery. Never hook a ground to a positive power, unless you want to test your local fire department’s response time. Then hope your insurance covers it.

If they're both grounds they both go to the negative side of the battery. But check and see where the cables actually go! GMs of this period had a positive cable going directly to the computer. If both of the "extra" wires end up bolting to the engine and/or the body of the vehicle, they're grounds. They also had a cable going to the underhood fuse box on some models. Jim

The cable going to the underhood fuse box is a positive cable. So make sure you know where these go! Jim
