1995 Pontiac Trans Am LT1

Asked by JDGM Jul 13, 2019 at 12:18 AM about the 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am with LT1. Trying to
figure out why, when reconnecting the car battery
the headlights rapidly opens slightly and closes
repeatedly while the bell sounds repeatedly and a
clicking (sounds like having the hazards on). All
this goes on until I put the key in the ignition and
turn it to the start position and to the off position
then it all quits. There have been many hands in
this car before I got to it so I'm not sure exactly
what all had been done to it. I do know they've
bypassed the ignition key wires with a resistor and
the resistor matches the resistance of the key chip.
Any ideas out there?

That's because GM is notorious for the key acting as an anti theft. When the system read the key, that other nonsense stopped. Probably have a short in that headlight line. Rewire it.
