How do I do a transmission flush?

Asked by Shari Mar 10, 2018 at 07:47 PM about the 2001 Mercury Cougar V6 Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How would I flush the transmission my self?

You would need specialized equipment but flushes in my opinion do more harm than good. I would install new fluid/filter and then change the fluid again in a few miles if you want things nice and clean.

I;ve used an old shop vac and sent a rubber tube down the fill tube , They say you never get it all anyways , if the fluid is burnt and brown it needs to go
