ABS Brakes and warning light

Asked by loversbit Nov 03, 2018 at 09:23 AM about the 2012 Mazda MAZDA5 GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was told that my ABS brakes were shot and needed to be replaced, yet the
ABS warning light is not lit.  The ABS warning light comes on when I turn the
car on but goes off immediately like the rest of the dash lights.  I was told that
the ABS module isn't talking to the warning light so the warning light doesn't
recognize the problem.  Had anyone ever heard of this?

I didn't need a brake job. THe ABS light and the Brake light came on 1st. Took it and they said was a faulty switch. Got the car back and the brake light came on a week later and the pedal was going to the floor. We took it back and they bled the brakes and found an leak in the master cylinder which they replaced. That is when they told me my ABS brakes were gone. When I asked why the ABS light wasn't staying on becuase the ABS brakes weren't working, they told me that the ABS module is not talking to the warning light therefore it isn't detecting and issue. But not having the module talk to the car is a problem and wouldn't the ABS warning light stay on because of that.

Nope, ABS system can be faulty and NOT trigger a fault light. Happened to me on a 2012 Mazda 5. Replaced master cylinder, brake pads, caliper pins & boots and bled system several times. Nothing fixed a spongy brake pedal UNTIL I replaced the ABS pump/module. Problem fixed.

I just went two days ago to get my oil changed on my Mazda 5 minivan. Technicians gave me the low down that my axels were leaking. I had to go back to get them fixed. Guess what? This morning on the way to work my check engine light came on along with my traction control light and then my car shut off. After towing it back to the dealership to inquire of the problem, they told me the ABS system went out and the car is undrivable. What? They checked everything else but the brakes. It's going to cost $3,300 to fix, not even including the axels. Heads up, ABS light didn't come on.

The shop replaced my abs pump module and reprogrammed it. The bigger computer burnt out the new one they replaced…….

So what? In reality the axels were not leaking so they lied to you! Wtf? Then they replaced the ABS pump????? Wtf????

That’s why you need to learn about your car, the Mazda 5 has a piece of shit abs module!

It’s was to made break’ Mazda should have a recall on their shitty ABS modules! Again the Mazda 5 is a shitty mini van with multiple problems better buy a Toyota!
