2014 Toyota Corolla head unit not working, any ideas?

Asked by J.c. Dec 01, 2016 at 03:52 PM about the 2014 Toyota Corolla S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The head unit was working fine, then wouldn't come on after starting the car.  Since then, the load screen comes on and the loading bar moves across the screen.  It won't get to the end, the screen goes black, and it starts over again.  The screen still shifts to the back up camera in reverse.  Have tried multiple combinations of button and knob presses to reset, to no avail.  Took it to the dealership, and they tried to update the software.  They couldn't get the unit to communicate, and said we need a new one.  Told us they could install one for $1000.00.  Is there any other solution?

Check to see if you have power on the radio, the dome and the ECU3 fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment just aft of the battery. look at your Fuse box lid, its the top three fuses second row from the left on the firewall side. I am troubleshooting the same problem on my 2014 corolla. Took it to the dealer and they said it needed a radio for 900 bucks. I'm not buying into that since there are way too many post about head units and radios just stop working.

My Toyota Corrolla 2014 stopped working a week ago, it has the software update bar that keeps loading without update any software, the Bluetooth, stereo, and Navigation do not work only the backup camera. I thought it was a software update issue and I decided to go to the dealer. The diagnosis this was supposed to be $130 and then tell me what is going on with the car. The issuse is a new unit and the cost $2300, the unit broke just on time after the warranty had expired. I need to double pay for the technology package at this car after four years., nice way to make money!!!! The conclusion, if you buy Toyota do not waste the extra money for a technology package they are trash because the company will not cover anything to replace it
