How do I sell a car with a lien on it without
paying off the loan first?  Or is that not legal?

You can pay off the loan in the lenders office with the buyer if your lender will allow it.

    i have heard that in indiana you cannot sell a car to which you do not hold the title (ie that has a lien on it)
