2.7l overheating issues

Asked by Jonhilltry Oct 07, 2020 at 02:14 PM about the 2004 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I personally changed out the water pump and thermostat on the car several
years ago and it got very little use from then to now. Now the engine
overheats and burps large amounts of coolant out of the reservoir cap.
I assume the pump/shaft has failed but I am not wanting to open the engine
up again so I am considering putting an auxiliary pump on one of the radiator
hoses. Would this work?

If that motor overheated once you have a blown head gasket. An extra water pump won't help.
