uneven wear on tyres

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 dodge journey, I am about to put tyre number 3 on the near side front as it wears off around the outer edge. The car has only done 20,000 miles has anyone else had the same problem, the dealer say it is normal wear and that I go around round abouts to the right more than the left. I have serious doubts.

I am having the same issue on my escalade. My wear is a result of wheel alignment combined with the front suspension getting soft from age/wear. Luckily mine has lasted 150,000 Kms and this is normal expected wear. Not sure why yours is failing after only 20,000 Miles. I would have your shocks & struts checked by an independent mechanic (one you trust that is, dont take it to some random place). Years ago I had a Chrysler Dynasty and the front suspension went soft after 15,000 KMs. The dealership replaced everything under warranty and the car lasted another 100,000 KMs before I traded it off. The round about excuse sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Likely your dealer making up a story so they don't have to fix it under warranty.

do you get a clunk in thesteering when you turn to either side? my mother owns a 2007 durango, and she was havinga problem, turns out the inner tie rod on the drivers side was loose. no vehicle eats tires like that your dealer is just saving its money. roundabouts wont do that.

There is no clunking, unfortunately I have to pay for the tyres, they can't find a fault so its not covered under the warranty.

I have a dodge journey with 24,000 miles and uneven tire wear. the dealership said I need new tires and an alignment. monro did a wheel alignment and said the front had play in the steering. now back to the dealership which said I needed a four wheel alignment but then tells dodge consumer that the back is automatic alignment only needs the front done and tires. The alignment was done on all four areas paying for all four yet the alignment is still not correct pulling to the right. they claim I need new tires. b/s

I have a 2018 dodge journey with less than 18000 miles on it. After going round and round with the dealership Chrysler had a 4 wheel alignment done for free. the tech said the alignment was serviceable as Chrysler has no fix for it. The tech also said they have an after market part to fix the problem. Now its a waiting game to see if Chrysler is gonna take care of the problem and cover the tires.
