Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I ran out of gas in my 2008 grand marquis. Due
to the gas gauge not working, I couldn’t tell how
much gas was in there. So i would push the select
button to check the gas mileage but for some
reason, this day, the numbers wasn’t working so I
ran all the way out. I added more gas with one of
them 5 gallon gas cans, I did that like 3 times
putting $15 in the tank. Still no start. Crank but-no
start. I then decided to replace the fuel filter, still
crank but no start. Now, I’ve decided to replace the
fuel pump itself. I’m praying this fix my problem.
Anyone had this problem? Any suggestions on how
to get my car back rollin? I’m all ears. Thanks in
advance!

When you run completely out of gas the fuel pump motor will often times burn out. This is because the gasoline flowing through the pump motor cools and lubricates it. With no gas going through the pump motor it can overheat and burn out pretty quickly!! Hope that helps! Jim
