What could be wrong with engine?

Asked by GuruQSD4S Oct 16, 2020 at 10:20 PM about the 2003 Lincoln LS V6 Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 lincoln ls 3.0 v6. When I
start car when it's cold outside it idles
very rough and the brakes are hard.
Once it warms up it runs like a champ. I
heard that it may be the idle air control
valve but this model year doesnt have
one. Could it possibly be a vaccum
leak? If so how do I find it?

Are you sure your engine does not have a IAC? I looked it up and the part is listed. New spark plugs might be in order and it would not hurt to use a good fuel system cleaner.

Im sure. The part is listed. I even ordered one only to find out that model year doesnt have it. I replaced the spark plugs and the coil packs. Used fuel system cleaner still same. I been teying to figure this problem out for the better part of a year. Any other suggestions would be very helpful.

Not sure how the idle is controlled then. I would clean the throttle body and the intake sensors and scan for codes.
