Jerking, hardly any power, cutting off

Asked by Kayla7819 Mar 21, 2020 at 06:58 PM about the 2006 Mercury Milan Premier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has been messing up for about 3
months now. It started off as just jerking (like
bad jerking. Makes you jerk too), When it jerks
the RPMs go down, sometimes it goes all the
way to 0 and cuts my car off. Sometimes it
cranks right back up and other times it
doesn’t want to. It hardly has any get up and
go, thought it was my catalytic converter
(which was very badly stopped up), but I got it
bypassed and it had get up and go the first
few minutes then it started jerking again. I’m
curious as to what it is. It’ll pop up a wrench
when it’s fixing to cut off. Had a computer
hooked up to it and it doesn’t throw off any
signals.
