2003 Buick Lesbare Custom, wipers will not shut off

Our 2003 Buick Le Sabre Custom started having the wipers run by them selves while driving a week or so ago. Yesterday they just started wiping after the car was running. Switch seemed to only wash or mist function but would still keep going with switch off. Headlight, turn signals all work OK. I ended up pulling the fuse for the wipers (#3 under hood fuse block) when wiper reached the down position. I have heard two possibilities, the multi-function switch or the motor. Both expensive. What do think of running a switch to the fuse block and just turning it on when needed? Cheaper than replacements, yes?

On a twenty year old Buick that has no intrinsic value, I understand your desire for economizing this decision. It sounds like the problem actually is a broken multi-switch. It wouldn't cost much for you to replace it yourself. You just need patience with the steering wheel/column and avoid setting off the airbag.

NO POST... I'LL TRY AGAIN... On a twenty year old Buick that has no intrinsic value, I understand your desire for economizing this decision.
