Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1996 Dodge Ram, 5.2 litet. Was running fine and died at a intersection. Got a tow back home and now it wont start. It turns over fine. There is spark at coil and plugs. Fuel Pressure at rail is 48 PSI. All the basic seem to be there, spark and fuel but she wont start. Suggestions?

One last thing to rule out fuel delivery issue would be to try spraying starting fluid into intake while cranking it over (you'll need a helper for this one). If it now fires you have fuel delivery issues. If not ignition issues.

check your ECM also get a scan tool and plug into your unit under the dash

just because you have fuel at the rail doesnt mean the injectors are working

I agree with ecm for injectors, but it is strange you have no ignition with the starting fluid test. Are you sure you got the fluid into the intake. If so this would also appear to be ecm issue.

Guy Drive Auto: Do a compression test because you spray starting fluid in the intake and got fire all the way to the plugs then the only other element to be running is timing. Air, fuel, fire, then timing for compression. Check that.

Shakes head. If you have not figured it out by now, Well i will Explain Plain and Simple.. 3 letters. ASD.. remove and crank over the engine for 10 seconds. Put asd back in and put truck in NEUTRAL, then start. After she fires up youll know what issue is. Your welcome
