Should I have received 2 keys for my 2004 Grand Prix or just the ignition key?

Asked by jbilinski1231 Mar 24, 2024 at 11:31 AM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 2004 Grand Prix GTP - while I can open the trunk by using the
trunk release button inside the car, I'm unable to open the trunk with a key.
Does it use the same key as the ignition/door lock key, or should I have
received a key just for the trunk too?

Originally the car came with three keys. Two keys to open everything and start the engine. Then another, valet, key to open the doors and start the engine only. Sounds like the key you have is the valet key. Or, given the age of the vehicle, the ignition and door locks could have been replaced at some point. Try your local GM Dealer and see if they can make you a new key using your VIN. If that key won't work at all then the locks have been changed at some point. Hope that helps! Jim
