Fuel issue on 06 expedition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I ran my expedition out of gas today and I filled it up, but now it wont start. I put
the heat in it(its Idaho and cold) I put a new air filter in it, I sprayed starter fluid
in there and it still won't start. If I push the fuel reset button, will it help? I don't
know what is wrong with it. I am trying and praying its not the fuel pump,
because I just paid $100 to fill it

If you sprayed starter fluid down the intake and it didn’t even try to run then you have a spark issue, plus you ran it out of fuel and that usually burn out the fuel pump cause the pump uses the fuel as a coolant, so when you run less than 1/4 tank the fuel pump get exposed and starts to run hotter then normal. So you have more than one problem. Did you pull the codes?
If a vehicle runs out of gas, restarting can push air into the fuel lines. Any time a vehicle runs out of gas and fuel is added, you should turn the ignition to the On position then back Off three or four times to prime the pump before trying to restart thee engine. Priming the fuel pump will remove any air that might have gotten into the lines as a result of the vehicle running out of gas. If priming the fuel pump doesn't start the engine, and you've continued to run the pump, the pump might be damaged. Listen for the pump to prime. If no sound, it's gone. If you can hear it, you should have the pump checked by a mechanic.
