Tire rubbing on frame

Question type: General

Hi. I just bought a 2008 dodge caliber with 64000 miles on
it. Drove very good until I had driven it for a few days. Then
the shield that is up inside the front wheels started rubbing.
The shield actually got doubled over and caught between
the tire and the car and caused me to almost wreck. My
grandson looked up under the car and found that the shield
is held on with zip ties and rope. In just a few days the tire
was ruined and had to be replaced. Now, 3 days later, the
drivers side tire is showing major wire and we see that the
tire is rubbing on the frame when I turn. What could be the
problem? I'll try to attach pics of how bad the tire suddenly
wore out and the rub marks on the frame.

It sounds like the vehicle might have been in an accident or the suspensions is shot allowing the tires to contact the inner wheel wells. If the plastic shield was held on by ropes and zip ties, then this was happening before you bought the vehicle. Take the vehicle to a good mechanic, they will be able to diagnose the issue very quickly. I'd say your need new struts and springs, and or course new tires. Worst case is you have frame damage.
