Help, my car is possessed! Battery dies, then gear locked at charge, and horn isn't working-

Asked by Dalya Apr 25, 2016 at 06:42 PM about the 2006 Acura TL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Acura TL, and lately (months) my
battery dies of over the weekend due to non-use. I
jump it and go, yet I'm told my battery is good (and
still under warrenty). Also, nothing comes up in the
computer when checked. I went out of town for a
week and my car had zero signs of life, even after a
few moments charging. When it finally goes on I
was not able to switch the gear from park...at all! I
removed the cover and put my key in the (don't
know what it's called) next to the gear shift, and
was able to get out of the situation that way. While
driving, my horn isn't working and there's a VSA
light on, but pressing it on the dash won't turn the
icon off either. It's also hesitating a bit sometimes
when I accelerate. I don't know if it's a computer
issue, sensor, or even if maybe a resovoir cap issue
I recently had is sending mixed signals to my
car...or if this is due to anti-theft system. Can't
figure this out and I don't have time to go to the
dealership (autism in our home).  Anyone know
enough on Acura to advise?

I have a 2007 and experienced something similar several years ago. The dealer had checked it multiple times as the warranty was expiring and could find nothing. I eventually took out a multimeter and found the problem to be the bluetooth module located by the sunroof controls. Disconnected it and havent had problems since. Acura knows the module is a faulty design but wanted $600 or so for a new one. Forget that.

I'm having similar issues. I don't use the hands free due to no Apple phone and no navigation. The VSA & ABS started out coming on occasionally but resetting when turned off and back on. Now battery draining completely after 2 days, new battery, still warrentied. Also, I have had a slow leak in a rear tire for some time and recently had it repaired. No check engine light, was told I might have had master cylinder, but when I get oil change they always say brakes look great. They have seemed to be changing. FYI, I got broadsided same side as slow leak, (which they claimed was due to a nail in it), but the was after the VSA/ABS came on the first time and long before it staying on almost constantly, car jerks, like electrical issue, a millisecond of nothing, and the light comes on. I was told the battery issue is likely a alternator nodule of some type that allows the current to run back out when car is parked. PS, sometimes when it is really dead, the alarm comes on the second charge is applied..I've never tried the Bluetooth.

When my car is off and I set my alarm it sounds like my door locks are moving but their not and it drains my battery
