2001 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Reviews, Pricing & Specs

This is a Great little SUV. We call her, the "Bubble" I was going to sell it for a moment and then looking at her and thinking about how good these are in the snow and off road I couldn't part with her. We bought her sight unseen from St. Louis, flew over and drove her back to Arizona the next day without a problem. We don't know how the previous owner took care of her but she was in pretty decent shape and they were Fantastic people that still keep in touch ,she's in good hands now and we will keep her forever. Going to do a few mods here and there but nothing radical. Low maintenance, decent gas mileage and comfortable for long halls, I'm 6'6. Great little SUV. They won't disappoint.Aug 16, 2014

Front bumper could have been sportier, and so could've been the exhaust note. What's weird is that the rear fender flares and bottom of the rear hatch, are fading but, nothing else on the body's paint is fading. Finding aftermarket upgrades/tuning upgrades, is not as easy as finding them for newer models. My driver seat is tearing and I am not fat but, then again, who knows if the previous owner was. The back seats and rest of the interior is exceptional.Sep 05, 2013

I don't alike how dealership robs me, so I have a professional mechanic.i love the ability of being classy and still have the off stamina.i get complemented every where I go. Picture all black,cream interior,tinted windows,a 1200 watt amp and 2 kenwood 12's and 2 t.v's ( for the kids ) sitting on factory 17's from the ml430 with halo projector headlights......Awesome.....Feb 28, 2013

the acceleration is not all that great it is a big car with only a V6. the breaks work well but u have to get used to them, it also handles well and makes easy turns. it has not needed any major repairs just annual maintenance, no squeaks or rattles. i like the look of the interior...i would prefer to have another color that is darker on the outside. gas is somewhat expensive...i drive to school 4 days a week and to other places as well ans fill up every 1.5-2 weeks. the car has its moments of fun Jan 01, 2012

The car's acceleration is very good from 10km/h until approximately 95km/h. The brakes are weak and fade very quickly. The car handles ok, but there is too much body roll in corners. The build quality is mediocre, the dashboard need frequent repairs: radio, airco. The exterior design was acceptable in 2001 but is now outdated. Especially the grey bumpers which fail to match the color of the car are an absolute turn off. The car is quite economic, and comfortable and quiet for long highway drives. May 01, 2010

Good looking SUV that handles well and feels almost like a new car even after 8 years of avg mileage driving. Solid engine, however, overall a bad decision to buy: poor fuel economy and requires top grade fuel, endless problems from cheap plastic fittings that disintegrate and fall from the interior to costly repairs arising from faulty sensors, electronic and mechanical failures. Costs thousands per year to maintain through dealership.Feb 09, 2010

Performance-big car but great acceleration. very fast and stable in the right hands. good breaking distance. the doors sometimes act funny its nothing major. the car has good looks in and out but the leather seats feel slippery. it is good on gas if you are not constantly accelerating to 100km/h in 5-6secs in city driving. service is done at the cost of a leg and a kidney. overall, all at some point must get a chance to drive a car like this or better. At the time, this was what you wanted if you had a family and a dog and the vanity. It was a pig on gas. It drove very well (German engineering, jah!) The third row seats were a complete pain (Germans have 5 weeks holidays and I think that was when these seats were designed). They were a weird multi folding, clip, hook, get up in the truck on your hands and knees to wrestle alligators configuration - pain for a mother with two young children and friends to drive. It was fun, but we were not sad to hand it back in at the end of the lease.Aug 01, 2008
