One year after a major makeover, the Acura TL hits the ground running for the new millenium with a couple new features. First off, the TL gets a new navigation system based on DVD's that cover the continental U.S. In addition, the 3.2 L, 225 hp V6 engine gets paired with 5 speed automatic transmission, up one speed from the previous year.
Otherwise, the TL retains the same basic features. The 2000 model has 4 doors, seats 5, and offers standard sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, ABS brakes, and traction control. Expect to get 19 mpg in the city, 29 on the highway. Finally, the 2000 Acura TL goes from 0-60 mph in just under 7.3 seconds.
Overall, drivers like the value and solid power that the 2000 Acura TL provides. However, they wouldn't mind better interior materials and handling. If you don't need luxury and don't want to spring for a newer model, the 2000 Acura TL gets you where you need to go at a good price.

I love my dad's TL, I'm really gonna miss it when it's gone and it's my favorite 4-door car of all time. My favorite thing about this car is the sound. The low RPM growls are just amazing and when vtec kicks in it is so monstrous and really pulls hard. The transmission is kinda crappy I mean like it's a honda tranny so it's gonna be rough. It looks nice to for being a four door sports sedan. Overall, it's a great car.Aug 19, 2014

I liked how the car drove like a Cadillac and was smooth with pretty good pick up from 0-60 and in lengthy drives the car was nice in the higher speeds and also was good on gas mileage on the highway. I will never purchase another Acura as long as i live being is they are a glorified Honda and over priced by far. I'd rather buy a Honda Accord which looks just as nice and is way cheaper in every aspect. Aug 01, 2014

Grand old lady, but showing her age. This is the best car I have ever owned. Dealer installed new transmission at 98,000 miles due to manufacturing defect, so no complaints. Engine is still strong, but body and mechanicals are wearing out.May 29, 2014

This is a safe, nice performing all around vehicle, front and side air bags, good visibility, great sound system and excellent power. Gas mileage is above average, handlingis good but not great not quite like a german car. Love the sunroof.Nov 08, 2013

There is nothing that I could say that would be negative about this car. I've driven it approximately 60 miles round trip to work, since owning it and it still feels and acts the way it did when I first got it. This car is absolutely phenomenal!! ACURA is the only way! American car manufacturers should consider enrolling in their school, cause their technology and reliability are still better. Jul 10, 2012

Performance -accelaration is fast...brakes well and handles great.
Build Quality -repairs was the control unit. Doesn"t squeaks or rattles.
Appearance -the interior is leather which is very comfortable for driving.
execpt for daytime it can be real hot, and exterior styling is a very beautiful
car.
gas mileage is only good if you put $20 or more, anything less is a waste of
money. And maintenance is just making sure you have enough oil, brake fluid,
power steering fluid, and transmission fluid, and also radiator fluid....

As mentioned above with 10-30 engine , Honda ATF only, oil change and fuel injector cleaner every 5000 miles I already have this much mileage and still running very well besides the usual maintenance of brake pads and tires. The Acura name keeps high its class of technology & reliability at a great price.
I use 91 octane gas from shell, mobil or chevron only and add a few drips of wd-40 on the a/c compressor, alternator and power steering pump every 10, 000 miles to keep that running bearing lubed.Jul 09, 2011

I Love my car! I'm a huge HONDA fan, the cars are built well ,very economical and easy to find parts. Even though this is a 2000 model it has great features.
I love the sun roof, black leather seats, huge trunk, automatic lights, wood panels... etc.
Not to mention the fact that this car just wants to fly!

Good performance better than most cars in its class.
Typical Honda reliability (or lack there of in my case). Needed to rebuild
transmission.
Doesn't stand out but if you observe it for a bit it is a good looking car.
Expensive replacement parts. Good gas mileage, I've averaged 25 mpg.

I hace a 2000 3.2 TL Acura with 108,000 miles. Power every thing: locks, heated seats, windows, sun roof (dark tint), touch srceen navi, stero sytem, front and side air bags. In good shape but needs a transmisson. I kept it clean and its jus sitting here and I'm going over seas later on this year and would love to get it gone. I got it in 2005 for $21,000 and letting it go for $4000 (35,000 miles put on by me. Ga to Md.) Can get up to 135 mph easy. Great performance, great gas mileage, pleasure to drive.
This model had a recall for transmission , but the Acura Dealer replace it at no extra cost. No problem whatsoever.It drives like new at 99k miles . I will recommend this car to anyoneAug 23, 2009

It's the best car. New transmission, front mount, rear breaks from my work, Stevenson Honda and Acura, March 2008. Ive dented it twice, the front left panel was painted and replaced. The other dent is so close to the back right wheel, it can be banged out. Runs like a champion.Feb 06, 2009

Its a very attractive looking car. It can be turned into either a luxury car or a rlly sporty looking car. It has everything a teenager would want in a car, it has a great sound system, leather seats, its confortable, its got power when u need it and it handles good for a car its size.Aug 26, 2008

- Good on gas.
- Car is like a tank (build quality)
- Has a good amount of power for the size of car.
- Only thing that is a downside, the transmission is not as its best. Had to replace my tranny, but has warranty on it so it was free.
- Overall I would buy this car again, but the Type S model. (more horsepower and performance)

Very qualitied built. Never have any problem at all. Have your oil cahanged every 3,000 miles and do your regular maintainence. It will keep going and going. But don't forget to replace tires when they get bold.Jul 01, 2008

The car that I own is a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL. It is black with a black interior. The performance of this car is astounding. When you want a thrill, just give the throttle a little push and you're at 90 before you know it. The only problem that I have had was that the transmission was not built very well. It wasn't anything wrong with the car, it was how the transmission was built. On a scale of one to ten, this car is an eleven on the fun factor scale. I have spent some money and put a small spoiler and wheels on the car. Eighteen inch wheels make this car look fantastic.Jun 27, 2008

This car has been absolutely maintenance free. For the 3 years I've owned it, it hasn't had a single mechanical problem. It always runs, and I never have to worry about it.
But if you're looking for a "car to fall in love with", this is not the ultimate driving machine. It handles fine, but there is no feeling of "driving". For that, I think you are better off with even an used version of BMW.Jan 26, 2007
