ECM not communicating with alternator's voltage regulator.
Battery is not charging. Was told regulater bad. Replaced alternator have same problem. Suspected bad wire to ECM or ECM.

The minivan never claimed to be anything but a family hauler, falling somewhere between a truck and a station wagon. Handling like a car, loaded with interior creature comforts, but with lots of cargo room, the 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan has earned many faithful owners and many grateful moms.
In addition to the 3.0-liter, 141-hp V6 or a 3.3-liter, 158-hp V6 engine, the 3.8-liter V6 raised its horsepower to 180 (from 162) in the 1998 Grand Caravan. Base model Grand Caravans housed the 3.0 V6, while all others came standard with the 3.3 V6. AWD Grand Caravans were equipped with the 3.8 V6. On SE models, a Sport Package with enhanced suspension gives the minivan a more energetic feel on the road, though it is not available with the 3.8 V6.
What's the number one function of a minivan? Of course it's hauling groceries, and new in the 1998 Grand Caravan are hooks on the backs of the rear seats to hold groceries more securely. For extra storage, the rear seats can be fairly easily rolled out for removal.

Has decent performance, it is a mini van so not going to win any races, the fuel economy isnt that great but its ok. has plenty of room, i hauled a washer and my wife and 2 kids still had plenty of room. styling isnt to bad ours has a decal on it so that makes it look a little better.Jan 25, 2012

This van has good performance, it goes from 0-60 in 6.0
seconds and it does have an amount of $40 for gas and $20
for maintenance. This would be the best family van because it
is cheap and runs awesome because my van has 360,000
miles on it and is still running good. The condition of my van

Love the space and height of the van, LOVE the built in car seats. I can get my kids in and out easily, and see them easy when driving. Has some problems now, that are fixable, nothing horribly major. nice height off road for driving, can see well, only one small blind spot. switches seem to be cheap since several are broken or almsot broken.Nov 23, 2009

Yeah, go ahead and laugh but I love this van. It's roomy, powerful and fully loaded with power everything and a killer Infinity sound system. I drove it to Colorado and back this summer without a lick of trouble and got 25 mpg.Aug 20, 2009

Good Acceleration, bad braking and the handling is a bit weak.
Good Quality, though the engine needed to be overhauling
Looks like an old minivan.
Decent gas mileage, though it leaks oil and other fluids.

We have had such good luck with our '97 Grand Caravan that when we saw this one, also red, but with gold striping (ugh!) we bought it for me and Scott uses the '97 as his work van now.Jun 13, 2008

The Grand Caravan has the Mitsubishi 3 liter engine, which was my engine of choice. I like the high-revving capability of the 3.0.
The only problems have occurred recently, at 99700 miles.
1. The air condition pulley keeps throwing off belts, and I've been told that this is because the pulley is out of alignment. Haven't had it fixed yet.
2. Air Bag idiot light keeps going on and off.
3. Oil pan has a Kelly plug because of an incompetent shadetree mechanic (myself) insisted on changing oil himself and rounded off the drain plug.
Other than a failed battery, that has been all in the last 8 years of ownership! Once I work out the handful of bugs, I may just keep it.

Dodge caravan blinker malfunction
I have a 1998 Dodge caravan. The drivers side rear turn signal and hazard do not work. I know the bulb is good because the tailights work. I replaced the bulb anyway and it made no difference. The signal indicator on the instrument panel blinks fast and so does the front blinker. I can't seem to find information that explains why just one light would malfunction.just one side.

hey guys i was driving my van fine next time i got in. it started and immediatly died and after that it cranks but wont start i dont hear the fuel pump maybe the issue is there were do i start in diagnoseing

Brakes not working as they should
I changed my brakes all the way around. I have front disc and rear drum brakes. I Bled them starting from the furthest away from the master cylinder and worked my way to the front . They worked Good. After a week it seem like they needed bled again. I checked the fluiid and added some. My brakes don't work until I press halfway down on the brake petal, if I go alittle further and to the floor it seems like they stop working until I lift up and press again but still only works when petal is pressed halfway down and barely slows you down when to the floor. I noticed my ABS light was on so I looked around some. I found that my rear passenger side abs wheel speed sensor was missing it's bolt and was just hanging there out of it's correct place. Could this be causing air to get into my braking system?
