If you want to understand why the Motor City went bankrupt, look no further than this truck. Yes it is still running in damn good shape which means the men and women working on the assembly line at the time took their job seriously. However, the look of the truck is horrendous and the design of all the engine components makes the simplest mechanical task a mission. Apr 22, 2015

I loved the sound of the idle, most people don't like the rumbling noise when you're sitting at a light but i enoyed it. Gas mileage is terrible however $80 a week if i just drive to school then work for that week.Aug 25, 2014

This is my sons 1995 Chevy S-10 pick-up. It has a four cylinder motor and a five speed manual transmission. Its good on gas and low on power, a good first truck for my son. It is easy to work on and a good vehicle to learn basic maintance.Nov 30, 2013

Lousy fuel mileage but acts as if it is a 4x4 V6 low gears in manual trans can pull just about anything. 2.2L 5speed manual with low gears, roomy front seat not so much in the back seat has the fold down side seats not comfy don't know what Chevrolet was thinkingAug 20, 2013

Don't like the single cab (with never get one again) with the no room for anything you can never go grocery shopping on a raining/snowing day
But to some up this is one of the best truck for a teenage guy that wants to learn manual driving
Better on gas then a 1500+ with a V8 gas or a diesel engine (Would save a teenage that only has a partime job on gas)Apr 30, 2013

2 rear wheel drive - sand bags in the back, or simply garage it on the 1st snow. The only time I see them around town is mid-spring until late fall, like my fiancee does, she parks it in the garage all winter, (use of liquid salt solution, is just plain lethal to the undercarriage and paint).
We've towed and hauled just about everything under the sun with this small truck. (It came with a heavy duty tow package/suspension). The bench seat is actually comfortable, the ride is better than some cars I've riden in, especially for long trips. Visibility is excellent. Tie down points are placed well, although she decided to add stainless steel bed rails to facilitate strapping down larger loads (they look nice too).
Currently with only 93K on the odometer, she (the truck) still runs very well. The usual water pump, master cylinder, new tires, tranny flush, and other normal maintenance has been done over the years... all in all, it's been and continues to be.. a very, very, reliable vehicle. Jan 25, 2013

My s10 has a 4.3L V6 Vortec. It is blue with gray trim. Unlike most s10's it hasn't rusted out. all the s10's i've seen around here are newwer than mine and are already rusted out. it is also very fun to drive. i was going to put on a glasspack, but when i put it on, it sounded no different than the OEM, so i ended up streightpiping it. unfortunately it didn't help the gas milage any. it still gets just under 20 mpg because it has 30" Good Year Wrangler Radials.Apr 17, 2012

bit slow, works well, can fit my dirt bike on the bed. i was thinking about buying
another one but this one always works its got about 160.000 miles on the clock and
is still working fine. it is a great car to drive and does not use a lot of fuel when you
are just driving, so i drive it alt and have fun doing it. it does not cost much to fix it

Never thought I would have a truck but this one was great. One of the smaller ones, but it had plenty of room. 5 speed manual. Could still peal the tyres even tho it was a truck. Bitch seats in the back, storage room behind them. Tool box. Lived out of that truck for 6 months total. Powerful when you needed it. I loved that truck very much. Dec 08, 2011

It's all good..No complaints to speak of!!
Picked it up used, as a 40% basket case---tuneup, oil change, 4 shocks, tires and instrument cluster needed to be replaced.put in less than $1000, which is really nothing these days, especially when brought to a shop for some of this.
Wax and cleaners and tons of elbow grease made the difference.Jul 20, 2011

painted different wheels put 485743854938 parts on it changed tail lights and now

for a total of $3000 its been a great truck only downfall was having to do a motor at 189xxx miles but with a new motor it has been great and rolled over 200,000 miles. for bein a 4 banger its actually fun to drive and handles like a dreamNov 12, 2010

i love the handling and turning radius of the truck down fall is that the govener shuts it down at 92mph. gas mpg is amazing compaired to my prior vehicals it gets 38mpg and has an 18 gal tank. and the truck is the funnest ive ever owned, cept i cant really take it off roading like i want but its all goodOct 20, 2010

Stick was fun and 22 mpg for a pickup is pretty good. It had great acceleration for a four cylinder, didn't like the governor at 95, easily maintained, replaced the air conditioning unit and that had troubles but it worked eventually.Feb 07, 2010

the motor in that truck is indestructible. the only thing i didn't like bout that truck at first was the box. so i changed it. lol. it was a easy truck to drift with and it wasn't bad on gas.Dec 24, 2009

Slow acceleration, pretty good braking, average handling
had to cut out parts of the body when we got it and repaint it.
starting to rust again.
Have racing style seats and custom american racing rims
Getting about 18 miles per gallon

I dislike that its not extended cab or 4 wheel drive. And that it doesnt have 20s on it yet. But by the first of the year it will have those. Its great on gas and has plenty of power from the lil 4.3 vortec.Oct 09, 2009

Well I bought it for $650 and it needed a head gasket so I put one in. Then I fixed up the body so it wasnt so dang rusty. And about 2 months later my front ball joint goes out. So I am currently fixing that right nowOct 04, 2009

Runs good, looks like it had a deer jump out in front of it though. (wink, wink). It's a great vehicle, outside of it's looks. An vehicles are terrible investiments, when you are buying them for frequent high mileage trips. And it's not worth fixing up. because the way it runs now, is just as good as if I went out bought another.May 30, 2009

Getting rust spots, hole in the exhaust, acts up, doesnt like to start ing the winter.
Has a bed liner, custom floor mats, gets me home even when it is out of oil.
Lots of fun to drive even through mud holes, great truck to take hunting.

Incredibly durable and strong long lasting truck. never have any problems with it. it's an old work truck, and even though its got a few bumps and scratches, its never let me down once. its a great little truck to drive, can haul almost anything, and is the best truck i think i've ever driven.

its lowered 3 inches in the front and 4 in the back
it has a 5.1 v6 vortec

i've only had it for a few weeks but it only cost me $700. I haven't had any crazy problems with it and neither did the previous owner. i recommend it to anyone who wants decent gas mileage out of a truck. but only the 2.2 liter 4 cyl. The tranny shifts smooth and i haven't had any problems with the clutch yet. so it's an awesome first truck...it's a chevyJun 25, 2008

It does not have as good acceleration as a 6 cyl. would obviously, but it does well. I expected it to have better gas mileage, but I guess since its a four cylinder 2.2 it has to work harder to get places. I like the way it handles- not too touchy. Parts are pretty cheap for it.
