My FIRST Topaz was the 2.3 4cyl 2-door coupe GS. I seriously beat the crap out of that poor car! Now, I have the V6 Topaz, I have to say that my '93 V6 is much better. My 4cyl Topaz developed problems changing gears, and one day it started to stall at stop signs and red lights. The starter failed and I had to change the alternator twice. Mysteriously enough though, it did serve the purpose at the time!!Aug 16, 2010

It's in perfect shape, gets great mileage and is my general all around work car. Poor Performance, I have to beg it to get up to 60. It's not really fun but it does the job. Plus I'm not concerned with door dings.Aug 14, 2009

This car is great to get you from place to place; it serves the primary function of a car very well. Styling is typical 90s econo-box, and acceleration is mild (though not quite as slow as automatic models). But, the car has proven to be very reliable, have a surprising amount of cargo room for a coupe, and gets impressive gas mileage (30+ mpg) to boot.Jan 14, 2009

the car is ok...i guess...it does get great gas mileage....the performance is ify...it just depends on the car...it has a will of its own...the build needs some repairs...the appearacne is ify...it could just be a color thing....the cost isnt that bad it has good gas mileage but the maintenance could get expensive if everything was to be repairedOct 09, 2008

i dont like that its a four cylinder id rather have a v6 or v8 but i do like how it gets great gas milage! Other than thats its a great little car!! I have done some work to it myself like two 12 inch audiobahn sub woofers powered by a 1000 watt explode amp!! I also put a performance wing on the trunk for the rices look an at the moment i have no muffler on it but i have a huge fart canready to be put on in the near future!!Jul 31, 2008

1994 Mercury Topaz Grinding Noise (not at the wheels)
I have a 1994 2 Door Mercury Topaz, that is making quite a grinding noise (mostly when driving it) from the passenger side front, (where the front of the transverse engine is) and it's quite noticeable, I did take it to a good Mechanic and he said it was not the CV Joints, and I recently changed the Trasmission fluid, the old fluid came out completely clear and clean. And it's not coming from the transmission area, what could be making this grinding noise? Thank you kindly.

94 Topaz Lower Control arm
How do you remove the bolt holding the control arm up in the frame, I got the nut off no problem but the bolt wont budge at all, penetrating oil hitting with hammer, I can't get into frame to get anything behind the bolt to pry it out. Help Brad
