The Lexus ES 300 is the second generation of the Japanese automaker's entry-level luxury sedan. The Camry-based ES offered a more affordable option than the flagship LS 400 or the new SC series sports coupes. For 1994, a passenger-side airbag and several creature comforts were added as standard equipment. The ES also received a slight power bump. The new aluminum block engine still displaced 3.0 liters, but the redesign had increased horsepower to 188. Torque also jumped from 195 to 203 pound-feet. Improvements in performance were marginal, but drivers frequently cheered the ES's acceleration through the higher gears, providing plenty of confidence for passing and merging on busy highways. While some saw the FWD layout as a liability for a sports sedan, others found that it provided more assurance on slick surfaces. The ES suspension was also stiffened for a more sporty ride. Even by 1994, the ES 300 base model was still considered pretty stripped down. However, finding a true Base model is quite a challenge, as almost all ESs seem to have leather, power features, moonroofs, advanced climate control, and premium sound systems. The Lexus still retained much of Toyota's interior layout and controls, which led to many owners seeking a more polished cabin. However, each year more and more seemed to be setting the ES apart from the Camry. In 1995, the sedan would again undergo some styling changes and feature upgrades.

Great car stock engine and im at 299,923 miles. no repairs so far. fun to drive. fast
and very durable car. great look, big trunk, really good heated seats. good

it doesnt have a cd player. But its great on gas. a v6
and very little mileage. nice cold air conditioning
which is important specially in miami. lol anyways its a

Nice buid, great performance, easy to cruise. never touched the engine or any kind of tampering yet. it consumes less fuel on top speed with high efficiency factor. it is fun to drive. i'll recommend it to all. lexus pleasureMay 14, 2009

A well built vehicle, solid...a few problems are the cup holder location, the lack of a lumbar support, a problem with the instrument needles lights going out and the a/c read out not working. For a car that is 15yrs old, it is a great investment for one that does not have the money to buy a new vehicle!Jan 23, 2009

My Lexus had 220k on it and never had a serious problem, I put the last 20 on myself, and I am hard on cars. It looks so nice for being so old, everyone thought it was a 2000 or newer and its a friggin 94. It was beautiful on the inside too, with nice leather heated seats, and all Lexus' come with a more than decent stereo, although my mom blew mine out listening to her Korn, but whatever. I shared this car with my sister throughout my high school years. My mustang was in the shop often (usually by choice instead of necessity). The ride was soooo smooth and comfortable, the wheel too no effort to turn but there was no hint or inkling of performance in this 175 horsepower sedan. My sister still owns the car (it is currently april of 2008) and the car has only needed a new AC compressor in the nearly 8 years she has driven it.Apr 10, 2008

We bouth lexus for our daughter as very first car one year ago , with 117000ml on it.She did more than 10000 miles with no problems.The main reasons we bouth this car were safety,very good visability around for a driver ,handling, price and Lexus name we are using and trust for a long time.I replace Lexus stereo with Kenwood DPX701 ,looks and sounds very nice,she can use her IPOD with it.

We looked for about 3 months for a good deal on a used Lexus and found a 1994 es 300 5 years ago for around $7,000. As our Lexus is used primarily as a secondary vehicle, it does not get the major wear and tear of our whole family traveling in it. As a car for my wife to go to and from her job 5 days a week and run errands on the weekends, it has been perfect. Overall, it has been extremely reliable even with over 160,000 miles on it. We have had to have no major work done other the routine maintanence normally required for all automobiles, until just this year when the air conditioning motor burnt out. Other than that we plan to keep it for a while longer as the note is paid and the insurance continues to go down.May 06, 2007

My '94 ES300 drivers door locks manually and with the fob but can still be opened from the outside. No issues with opening the door from either inside or outside. Just wont lock.

Why is my O/D light blinking off and on when i drive my car?
Whenever i drive for about 5-15 minutes my overdrive light blinks on and off my tranny and car puurs like a cat! Also sometimes it stalls or it turns off randomly, in that case i just turn it back on and runs fine. My transmission isn't slipping or anything. It responds and sounds very accurate. I think it's a sensor from the transmission to the ECU. PLEASE HELP!

1994 lexus wont start where is alarm at
i charged battery up for my 1994 lexus,well when i connected back i crossed wires. Both leads had a black wires well i blew sum fuses had no power. Well i blew alternator fuse 60amp and a few others now it turns over got power to everthing,now it jus wont start it sounds like fuel injecters jus wont engage. Ithink it has sumthing to do with the alarm keyless entry the alarm does work since i blew fuses maybe it has a reset. Please help someone i do not have money to tow to mechanic shop im a single parent thanks for any advice godbless......

Could heavy rain cause my transmission to fail?
I was driving my 1994 Lexus ES 300 in a rare Arizona rainstorm a few weeks ago. Streets were slightly flooded. When I pulled up to a stoplight, the engine just conked out. I restarted my car, and it turned over just fine, but when i put it in drive it would not move. It drove normally when it was in Reverse or Low, but when I put it in Drive, it would barely move. I thought transmission, so I decided to just buy a new, used car. After weeks of searching for used cars, I decided to try it out again and it drives normally just like before the incident! Now I don't know if I should continue the car search or just ride out the last few miles of this car. If rain was the main problem, It wouldn't be so bad to wait a few months to try and have more money saved up for when I really need a new car. Heavy rain isn't a regular occurrence in Arizona.
