| 2015 | 239 | 26.8% |
| 2017 | 191 | 28.8% |
| 2018 | 135 | 29.6% |
| 2019 | 62 | 22.6% |

What is the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2017 | $10,643 | −13.0% |
| 2015 | $10,395 | −8.77% |
| 2016 | $10,452 | +1.58% |
The table shows mixed movement, with two years posting declines and one year edging up. For used buyers, that means some model years have become more affordable while one has shown a small gain. The biggest drop stands out clearly, so shoppers focused on value may find stronger opportunities in the years that have moved down more sharply.
The 2016, 2015, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Customers say
The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen has received high praise from owners for its impressive cargo space, fuel efficiency, and driving performance across all model years. Many enjoy the balance of comfort and technology, especially in higher trims. However, some drivers have noted minor concerns with features like the panoramic sunroof and occasional lag in acceleration at higher speeds. Overall, it stands out as a practical and fun-to-drive option, often favored for its spaciousness compared to larger SUVs.

Reviewed a 2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen on Jul 20, 2023
The 2019 Golf SportWagen is a near prefect car for our needs. it has sufficient power to be easily driven at freeway speeds all day. At the same time, it is small enough to be comfortable in city driving. The safety features and displays are state of the art, yet they recognize the driver as being the person in control. There is plenty of cargo space. With the rear seat folded, there is enough room for two adult bicycles in the back of the car. The car is very comfortable and the cloth sear option if VERY pleasant. The VW SportWagen is a VASTLY superior option to the panoply of ridiculous SUV choices, all of which are too big physically while having less cargo room. Good gas milage is a given. This may well be the last of the truly excellent small station wagons. The VW makes a good comparison with the Audi Avant and Allroad, but at a considerably reduced price point. There is not a car that I would rather have.

Why it stands out
Amidst the crossover craze, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen stands out by offering capability and a surprising amount of car for the price. It is based on the seventh-generation Golf and follows the Jetta SportWagen, which gives it the familiar Golf driving character in a wagon body. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want practicality without giving up the road-going manners that help the Golf nameplate stand apart.
Its biggest draw is the blend of practicality, cargo space, and fun-to-drive nature. The available information also points to the latest infotainment and safety technologies, adding to its everyday usefulness. The main limitation is implied by the broader comparison to crossovers: they may ride higher, but they do not offer the same cargo space and storage solutions as wagons, which is exactly where the Golf SportWagen makes its case.
