CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 650 currently listed for sale and an average price of $33,415, 34.2% of 2023 Toyota Venzas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Toyota Venza 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.33 / 10.
83.2% of 2023 Venza models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Venza stands out in the midsize SUV class by leaning more toward style and efficiency than outright utility. Its sharp styling gives it a distinctive look, and its luxury-leaning interior helps it feel a bit more upscale than many mainstream alternatives. It is also described as a stylish and fuel-efficient midsize SUV alternative, which makes it appealing to buyers who want something practical without giving up a more polished presentation.
That appeal comes with tradeoffs. The 2023 Toyota Venza is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class, and its hybrid powertrain is a clear strength. It is also noted as comfortable. On the downside, it does not offer much cargo space, and its performance is only middling, so buyers looking for maximum hauling ability or stronger acceleration may find it less convincing.

Reviewed a 2023 Toyota Venza on Mar 6, 2023
The Limited model is loaded with many luxury and safety features. The ride is excellent and the gas mileage outstanding. This feels more like a Lexus than a Toyota. I switched from a Highlander and the Venza has a more comfortable ride. I have taken 2 trios that were over 3 hrs each and I was less fatigued than when I drove the same routes in the Highlander. I am very happy with my purchase.

How much does the 2023 Toyota Venza cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $33,410 |
| Year-Round Low | $31,353 |
| Year-Round High | $33,456 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,246 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.50% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 651 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2023 Toyota Venza a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Toyota Venza earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.
It fits best if you want a stylish, fuel-efficient midsize SUV that feels more upscale than many mainstream alternatives. The Venza’s hybrid powertrain and comfortable ride support that mission, while its sharp styling and luxury-leaning interior help it stand out.
The main trade-offs are not much cargo space and middling performance, so it makes more sense if you value efficiency and comfort over maximum utility or quick acceleration.
34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Venza’s hybrid setup and smooth, calm driving character point to a design that prioritizes everyday dependability and easy ownership. Its performance is described as seamless in normal driving, and the expert evaluation also highlights a comfortable, composed ride.
The cost-effectiveness notes also point to strong efficiency, which can help keep day-to-day ownership costs in check. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that limited cargo space and only average performance may make the vehicle feel less versatile over time if your needs grow.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Venza?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the vehicle’s features and trim level match the listing description.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LE is the most stripped-down version, while the XLE and Limited add more upscale equipment and convenience features. The base trim’s smaller infotainment screen is a key gap to watch for if you want a more modern-feeling cabin.
- Powertrain: The Venza uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with electric motor/generators, a nickel metal hydride battery pack, and all-wheel drive. It is tuned for efficiency and smoothness rather than strong acceleration.
- Safety package: Every Venza comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and reverse automatic emergency braking, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera, head-up display, and digital rearview mirror.
- Infotainment: The base LE has an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLE and above get a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also includes wireless charging.
- Fuel efficiency: It is estimated to return 40 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined.
Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Venza’s core hybrid efficiency and standard safety tech at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model, but you give up the larger screen and some of the nicer cabin upgrades.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and extra safety equipment for a reasonable step up in price. If you want the sweet spot between value and features, this is the one to target.
- Limited: This is the most upscale version, with the surround-view camera, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and standard JBL audio. It suits you if you want the most convenience and tech, but it is the priciest choice.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard across the lineup, while the XLE and Limited add extra safety and parking features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings may move quickly.
- Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 651 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 83.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,353, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $33,410 sits slightly above last year's $33,246.
That small increase suggests the Venza has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay for the model’s efficiency and upscale feel.
Its strong fuel economy and broad appeal as a stylish, comfortable hybrid SUV should continue to support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should have a better shot at a competitive resale price later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2023 Toyota Venza earns five-star ratings in overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated it Good across the board except for the new side impact test, where it earned Acceptable, and it was named a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. Higher trims add parking sensors, reverse automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.
The IIHS side-impact result is the main caveat to keep in mind, even though the overall safety picture is still strong.
Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines sharp styling with a fuel-efficient hybrid setup and a more upscale cabin than many mainstream rivals.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $29,188, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $33,410 average.
- It emphasizes efficiency, standard AWD, and a refined driving experience.
The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the current-year market with stable pricing, strong efficiency, and a polished feel. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better path, especially if you can find one in good condition with the features you want.
