About 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a largely underwhelming subcompact SUV. It has a low-quality interior, and both engine options are slow, but it does have a strong warranty as well an infotainment system that’s easy to use. ## What’s New for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport For 2023, the Outlander Sport gains standard all-wheel drive (AWD). Otherwise, it’s largely unchanged. ## Design Trims for the Outlander Sport are S, ES, LE, SE, Ralliart, and GT. The S trim comes with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers. Most other trims have 18-inch alloy wheels. The Ralliart trim features a rear spoiler, mud flaps, and specialty side graphics. ## Powertrain There are two engines offered in the Outlander Sport: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which comes on the GT trim. The 2.0-liter makes 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The GT’s larger engine makes 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. Both engines route power through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to standard AWD, which Mitsubishi calls Super All-Wheel Control, or S-AWC. With the base engine, the Outlander Sport returns fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 29 highway, and 26 combined. With the larger engine, it returns fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 28 highway, and 25 combined. ## Interior The Outlander Sport has just 21.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the rear seats folded, cargo space grows to 49.5 cubic feet, which is about average for a subcompact SUV. Standard features on the S trim include automatic climate control and cloth upholstery, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. Moving up to the LE trim adds heated front seats, an additional USB port, satellite radio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SE trim adds remote keyless entry, push-button start, and an upgraded six-speaker stereo system. The Ralliart version features red interior trim, red contrast stitching, and Ralliart-branded floor mats. The range-topping GT trim adds genuine leather upholstery. ## Technology The 2023 Outlander Sport comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, but little else. You’ll have to move to the LE trim to gain a larger 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. ## Safety Standard driver-assistance features on the Outlander Sport include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rain-sensing windshield wipers, pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. The Sport SE trim adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist. Rear parking sensors are also available. ## Pricing At the time of this writing, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a base MSRP of $22,995 for the S trim, making it an affordable option in the subcompact SUV segment. The ES starts at $24,995, and the LE trim starts at $25,945. The SE trim starts at $27,245. The Ralliart trim starts at $27,795, and the range-topping GT starts at $28,045. The Outlander Sport is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
