What’s New for the 2023 BMW X6

There are few to no changes for the 2023 X6, in anticipation of 2024 model-year updates.

Design

The defining characteristic of the BMW X6 is its coupe-like profile, which has inspired several imitators in the segment. Though it cuts down on cabin space, it also creates a head-turning presence. The X6 is available with an M Sport Package that adds 20-inch alloy wheels and more performance-oriented styling. Buyers can select 21-inch or 22-inch optional alloy wheels.

Powertrain

There are two powertrains offered in the 2023 BMW X6. The xDrive40i comes with a twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. It makes 335 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. The M50i features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that puts out 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Both engines route power through an eight-speed automatic transmission to xDrive AWD.

The M50i also includes an adaptive sport suspension, M Sport exhaust, and M Sport brakes. The M50i is available with a Dynamic Handling Package that adds rear-wheel steering, a lowered suspension, and active roll stabilization.

The xDrive40i returns fuel economy of 21 mpg city, 25 highway, and 23 combined. The M40i returns fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 22 highway, and 18 combined. The X6 requires premium fuel.

Interior

The 2023 X6 comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, ambient cabin lighting, power-adjustable front seats, driver’s seat memory, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, a panoramic moonroof, and remote keyless entry. An available Luxury Seating Package 20-way power-adjustable front seats with massaging and ventilation functions. A Climate Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated front armrests, and quad-zone automatic climate control.

Technology

The standard infotainment system in the 2023 X6 is a 12.3-inch touchscreen with redundant rotary dial in the center console. It also comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a fully digital instrument panel, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker stereo. Available tech features include a Wi-Fit hotspot, wireless device charging, and a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.

Safety

The X6 comes standard with forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, traffic-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Available safety tech includes adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assistant, a 360-degree parking camera system, reverse automatic emergency braking, and a head-up display.

At the time of this writing, base MSRP for the 2023 BMW X6 is $70,100 for the xDrive40i. The M50i starts at $89,100. The X6 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.
