About 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Alfa Romeo is an exciting Italian brand with a long, storied heritage, and even its SUVs offer plenty of performance and engagement. The Stelvio, Alfa's first utility model in the US, delivers the driving experience and oozes with Italian style. While it might not be the most spacious or luxurious in its class, there are certainly plenty of laughs to be had, and there are few other SUVs that offer the handling and acceleration of the beefy Quadrifoglio trim. ## What’s New for the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Alfa shuffled the trim levels for 2023, adding new Estrema and Lusso variants. ## Design The Stelvio opts for beauty over practicality, and its exterior shape reflects that ethos. It features dramatic curves, and Alfa’s signature design language shines through in the triangular grille and aggressive stance. The Quadrifoglio performance trim gets exclusive touches like a vented hood, four-leaf-clover graphics, and sportier wheels. Alfa also offers the SUV with interesting color options, but the automaker does not go overboard with graphics and logos. ## Powertrain The base powertrain option for the 2023 Stelvio is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. At the tippy-top of the lineup, the Quadrifoglio model gets a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 with 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available, and comes by default on the performance trim. ## Interior The Stelvio’s cabin is reasonably nice, but other models in its class offer more luxury and eye-catching designs. Though it’s advertised as a five-seater, the Stelvio is far more comfortable as a four-seat vehicle. The front seats are deeply bolstered and nicely supportive, but they’re not as plush as some others in the segment. Leather upholstery comes standard, and buyers can upgrade with premium leather, upgraded interior trim, and power seat adjustments. ## Technology Alfa combined physical and touchscreen controls to great effect in the Stelvio. The SUV is easy to interact with, and it does not require too much thought or attention while driving. An 8.8-inch touchscreen comes standard; it offers responsive menus and is generally easy to see from most angles in the cabin. Other standard tech features include eight speakers, SiriusXM radio, HD radio, Bluetooth, voice controls, wireless charging, and more. ## Safety The 2023 Stelvio hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but it comes with a decent list of standard safety tech. Alfa equips a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, forward collision warnings, and more. Buyers can add traffic-sign recognition, traffic-jam assist, a highway driving-assistance system with lane-centering, and a driver-attention monitoring system. ## Pricing The 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio starts at $48,170, which includes a $1,595 destination charge. Stepping all the way up to the Quadrifoglio model pushes the price to $87,270 after destination. Though Alfa offers numerous ways to drive the price tag higher, it also offers quite a few incentives, so the final price paid may be much lower when the deal is done.
