After an all-new model in 2021, the 2022 Buick Envision rolls into the new model year mostly unchanged, only adding a new color choice and a couple of other minor tweaks. The Envision lands between the Encore GX and Enclave in Buick’s lineup and is offered in the brand’s high-class Avenir configuration.

The 2022 Envision is offered in three trims: Preferred, Essence, and Avenir. The Avenir configuration brings several high-end features that set it apart from the rest of the model line. Diamond-quilted leather upholstery, a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, wood accents, and a rear-camera mirror are all part of the upscale experience. A programmable hands-free power liftgate is available, and heated front seats with a heated steering wheel are standard.

The standard Envision gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and is available with Amazon Alexa capabilities. Buick offers an upgrade package in the form of a Sport Touring (ST) option that adds alloy sport pedals, special ST stitching, and red seat stitching for the Essence trim.

All Envision models come standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The combo is rated at up to 31 mpg on the highway with FWD and up to 29 mpg with AWD.

The Envision gets a load of advanced safety features that include front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a following-distance indicator system, and automatic high beams. Available features include an automatic parking-assistance system, adaptive cruise control, and an enhanced emergency-braking system.

The 2022 Buick Envision is not on sale yet and no pricing details have been released. We expect to learn more as we approach the vehicle’s on-sale date, which should come later in 2021.
