About 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo
In America, Mercedes-Benz is a certified luxury brand, but in the rest of the world, it offers a broader lineup of economy and work vehicles. One such vehicle that has made its way to our shores is the Sprinter Cargo Van. It is a stout workhorse built with the slightest air of sophistication. For 2021, the Sprinter is now available with a four-cylinder diesel engine, growing the lineup of powertrain options to three. The base engine is a gas four-cylinder that makes 188 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The newly available four-cylinder turbodiesel engine puts out 161 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The range-topping six-cylinder turbodiesel engine makes 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, also routed through a seven-speed automatic. All engines route power to the rear wheels and the six-cylinder has the option of four-wheel drive (4WD). With the six-cylinder diesel engine and rear-wheel drive (RWD), the Sprinter cargo van can tow up to 6,768 pounds, according to Mercedes. The Sprinter is available in 144-inch and 170-inch wheelbase configurations. The 144-inch model is available in low-roof and high-roof setups, while the 170-inch is only offered with the high roof. The 170-inch also offers an extended model that stretches the rear overhang a few more inches. The Sprinter comes basically bare-bones inside. You can outfit it in many different ways as part of prep packages or a la carte options. Up front, the Sprinter is available with either a 7-inch touchscreen or a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Both operate the MBUX infotainment system. It includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an advanced voice command system. Standard safety features on the Sprinter include Emergency Call capabilities and Active Brake Assist. Features like active lane-keeping assist, traffic sign detection, blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree camera, and adaptive cruise control are all options. Base MSRP for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van is $36,355. The high roof option adds $2,850. The 170” wheelbase model adds $6,705, and the 170” extended wheelbase adds $9,595. The four-cylinder diesel engine is a $2,415 option, and the six-cylinder diesel is a $4,265 option. Adding 4WD and the six-cylinder diesel is a $12,240 option. There are also a number of prep packages, ensuring your fleet of cargo vans can have as much (or as little) content as you’d like.
