(55 reviews)Everything from the color to the turbocharged engine to the reliability of 4x4 its an excellent vehicle
Listing was not accurate! Although the listing said manual transmission the vehicle actually has an automatic transmission. Misleading and a definite deal breaker!
I like the fob/keyless entry and easy to lock. This car was a fair value. I found not enough room in the glove compartment for all my stuff. Also the back trunk area was quite small. I also didnt like not knowing the A button auto-assist that if you dont turn it on when backing in, it can literally lock up your reverse and drive mode. Very frustrating....also my car dealer did NOT fix the right-side mirror having problems going up n down so now I have to bring it into a Jeep dealer by me to fix - but the dealership gave me a $500 refund for that. I did like the pick - up when stepping on the gas + I liked the way it hugs the road. Im not crazy about the way it cuts corners, Im afraid its gonna flip over.
I have been considering a Jeep since I left high school; shortly after the YJ made it’s debut. Turning 50 this year, I finally decided it was time to get myself the Jeep I had always wanted. That Jeep brought back the Islander for 2021 seemed to be the perfect sign. Truth me told, before buying my Jeep I almost bought a Ford Bronco. I had been given my VIN and (first) Bronco build date in April of 2021. Continued debacles caused by both poor supply chain management and hard top engineering and production issues would result in that build date being pushed back 5 times until Ford finally confessed their sins and stopped hard top production for “retooling.” I cancelled my Ford order and went to look at a Jeep JL Unlimited Islander that week. The Jeep Brand is iconic. It is the off roader the competition uses as a bench mark. Unlike it’s predecessors, the JL couples off road prowess with on road comfort and precision. The bulletproof 3.6L V6 is offered with a 2kW e-torque generator (making it a “mild hybrid”), which not only boosts fuel efficiency but also improves torque as the 8 speed Automatic transmission switches gears. The ease of use of the Freedom Panels, and their build quality, is second to none. Controls are at my fingertips and the upright driving posture is just perfect. I have had big SUVs (Sequioa) and small Sedans (Sebring) and even sports cars (Firebird) - but none fit like a glove; the way the JL does. The Jeep JL is everything I wanted. Is it the right vehicle for everyone? Of course not. If it were, we wouldn’t have any other makes and models. When it comes to the off road segment though, despite Ford’s benchmarking the Wrangler in an attempt to take the title, the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited truly remain in a league of their own. Thank you Ford, if it weren’t for your failure to launch, I might not have experienced the genuine joy I feel behind the wheel of my Wrangler.
Great improvement from my 2008 Rubicon; Uconnect works wonderfully & is convenient; the position of the windshield really reduces wind drag at higher speeds; digital instrument cluster is aesthetically pleasing; overall, ride is smooth & comfortable.
