CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Honda Accord
overall

Summary
With 3,151 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,831, 29.1% of 2021 Honda Accords for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Accord 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 9.17 / 10.
62.8% of 2021 Accord models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for good reason. For the 2021 model year, Honda took the Accord in a more elevated direction by refining its features list, adding a trim level, and pricing it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Honda also made safety a priority in the 2021 Accord, helping this fresh version earn high praise.
It has several clear strengths that help explain its appeal. The Accord is stylish, handles well, and offers a spacious cabin. At the same time, it does have a couple of drawbacks: all-wheel drive is not available, and its technology is described as outdated.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

| Year-Round Low | $21,642 |
| Year-Round High | $23,227 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,228 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.00% |
Prices have softened 6.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,177 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.17/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. They also like the modern look and technology, and many describe it as a strong all-around daily driver.
The trade-offs are straightforward: it is not the fastest model available, and some shoppers feel the pricing is high for the features offered. Even so, the Accord’s elevated refresh, refined feature set, and broad appeal make it a strong fit if you want a stylish, spacious sedan that balances comfort and usability.
30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you can still find attractive offers if you shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe it as dependable, with strong performance and good gas mileage supporting the sense that it can be a trouble-free daily companion. The expert review also points to improved idle-stop behavior and smoother braking, both of which reinforce the impression of a well-sorted sedan.
If you want a used Accord that you can count on for the long haul, this model year looks promising, but condition and maintenance history still matter on any higher-mileage example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX has 17-inch wheels and cloth seats, while higher trims add features like leather-trimmed seating, a power moonroof, and more upscale interior touches. The Sport SE stands out with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a 12-way power driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
- Powertrain: The 1.5-liter turbo-four is standard on the LX, Sport, Sport SE, and EX-L, while the 2.0-liter turbo-four is reserved for the Sport 2.0T and Touring. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger one is the stronger choice if you want more punch.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a premium audio system, WiFi hotspot capability, and Near Field Communication.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, while the 2.0-liter engine returns 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport 1.5T, Sport Special Edition (SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Accord experience with the standard safety suite, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and do not need extra comfort or tech.
- Sport 1.5T: This trim adds a more athletic look and feel, plus paddle shifters and the same efficient turbo engine. It is a good fit if you want style and everyday usability without moving too far up the price ladder.
- Sport Special Edition (SE): This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the Sport with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a 12-way power driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start. It gives you a noticeable comfort upgrade without jumping to the pricier upper trims.
- EX-L: This trim is the more upscale comfort choice, with leather trim and available moonroof equipment that pushes the cabin closer to premium territory. It suits you if you want a quieter, more refined daily driver.
- Sport 2.0T: This is the choice if you want the stronger 2.0-liter turbo engine and a more engaging drive. It is the right pick if performance matters more to you than fuel economy.
- Touring: This is the top trim and the most fully equipped Accord, with the strongest mix of tech and convenience features, including the head-up display and HomeLink Remote. It is the one to buy if you want the most complete version of the car.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,177 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.00% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,642, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $21,834 sits slightly below last year's $23,228.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped.
Because the Accord remains popular and well regarded, cleaner examples should continue to draw interest. If you keep the car in strong shape and choose a desirable trim, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in all crash testing scenarios.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors on EX-L and Touring.
That said, the safety story is strongest because the standard equipment is broad and the crash-test results are excellent, so you should still verify that the specific used example has been maintained properly and has no unresolved repair history.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.00% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refreshed the Accord’s features list, added a trim level, and made safety a priority.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,307, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,834 average.
- It offers a complete mix of good looks, driving dynamics, a huge back seat, and strong tech.
The bottom line: If you want the fresher feature set, stronger safety emphasis, and a still-reasonable market price, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
