Overview

The SLC-Class, formerly known as the SLK-Class, received a redesign and its new name in 2017. For 2019, it gets a few minor tweaks.
The SLC-Class manages to look both modern and classic. It has a classic coupe shape with slightly harder curves that distinguish a folding hardtop. The long front overhang and short rear overhang are typical of a 2-seater, giving it an air of exclusivity, while the distinctive side vents hint at excellent performance.
The SLC-Class lineup features two trims, the SLC 300 and SLC 43 AMG, both with a 9-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD). The SLC 300 gets its power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The AMG version gets a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, making 385 hp, 23 hp more than last year’s model, and 384 lb-ft of torque. The EPA gives the SLC 300 ratings of 23 mpg city, 32 highway, and 27 combined. The AMG version hasn’t yet been rated for 2019.
In the base trim, the SLC-Class offers power-adjustable sport seats and synthetic leather upholstery are comfortable, while the panoramic sunroof incorporated in the hardtop helps open things up. Upgrades include push-button start, heated seats, leather or premium leather upholstery, LED ambient lighting, and the Mercedes-Benz Airscarf neck-warming feature. Dual-zone climate control and active LED headlights now come standard for the AMG trim.
The SLC-Class includes a 7-inch infotainment display, HD Radio, and a couple of USB ports. Features like satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, voice control, and a premium 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system are all available options.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have not evaluated the SLC-Class, which is typical for luxury sports cars and convertibles. Standard driver-assistance features in the SLC-Class include a reversing camera, driver-drowsiness monitoring, and active brake assist. Options include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and parking assist. For 2019, adaptive high beam assist comes standard on the AMG trim.
The SLC-Class looks the part of a modern luxury roadster from the outside and its performance will satisfy most shoppers. Shoppers may also want to look at other two-row coupes like the Jaguar F-Type and the new BMW Z4.

I recently purchased an SLC 300. Handles very well, extremely comfy for a roadster, fuel efficiency better than advertised. I purchased in Houston and drove it home to the New Orleans area. Barely burned a 1/2 tank of gas. Lots of features and an excellent sound system.
