About 2019 Cadillac CT6
Overview

Introduced in 2016, the CT6 currently stands as Cadillac's poshest sedan. For 2019, it receives a mid-cycle refresh and a new performance variant.
With a length of 205.8 inches and upright styling, the CT6 compares favorably against other full-size sedans like the Lincoln Continental, Volvo S90 Inscription, and Infiniti Q70L. Cadillac’s emphasis of the car’s low, wide, and long look give the CT6 a sense of occasion above its price point. Up front, there’s a newer, wider grille and sharper inverted L headlights. New LED taillights extend into the decklid to match the headlights. Meanwhile, the CT6’s contemporary interior carries over with a redesigned gear selector and a touch-sensitive rotary knob for the infotainment system.
There are four different engines across the CT6 lineup. A redesigned 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine still serves base duty, making 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a new 10-speed automatic transmission, replacing last year’s 8-speed transmission, along with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD).
Most configurations come equipped with one of two V6 options, both of which carry over from last year. The lesser of the two is a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft, but you can also get a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that puts out an impressive 404 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Both are available with standard RWD or optional all-wheel drive (AWD) and the same 10-speed transmission as the 4-cylinder engine.
Fuel economy ranges. With the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, expect to get 24 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined with premium fuel. For the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, fuel economy drops to 18, 26, 21. With the larger engine non-turbo V6, highway sees a 1 mpg increase.
The top performance engine, a 4.2-liter V8, sits in the CT6-V. Initial estimates place this engine’s output in the neighborhood of an insane 550 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the CT6-V benefits from a mechanical limited-slip rear differential, upgraded magnetic suspension, Brembo brakes, and track-tuned rear steering that significantly lowers the sedan’s turning radius. As of this writing, fuel economy numbers aren’t yet available.
The CT6 is the latest Cadillac to benefit from the brand’s “Y” trim structure, which offers luxury-oriented versions at one end and sportier versions at the other. On the luxury side, the trims now include Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum. All versions come standard with LED exterior lighting; keyless access and start; remote start; leather upholstery; a 10.2-inch infotainment system with voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto; dual-zone automatic climate control; satellite radio; a Bose 8-speaker audio system; and USB connectivity. Premium Luxury offers 16-way power front seats, a heated steering wheel, an active security package, and driver-assist features like parking assist. The Platinum trim offers a 20-way power driver's seat, an active chassis package with 19-inch wheels, and adaptive cruise control.
The CT6 is a technological wonder in terms of safety. You automatically get a reversing camera and front and rear park assist. Meanwhile, forward-collision alert, a following-distance indicator, lane-keeping assist, front pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and forward automatic braking come standard. There’s also Cadillac’s Super Cruise system, which lets the car operate on its own in limited situations, such as divided highways. It uses a 3D imaging system to monitor your focus, and alerts you when you need to pay more attention or take back control. And if you’re a parent, you might be impressed by the Teen Driver function, allowing you to monitor and set limitations on guest drivers, such as teenagers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not crash tested the CT6.
In the past, Cadillacs were stately, dignified, physically imposing sedans that were the envy of everyone around them. The CT6 successfully continues that legacy.
