The Kia Stinger was unveiled at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, based on a shorter version of the Hyundai Genesis platform, with additional reinforcements. The GT2 is the zenith of the Stinger’s five trim levels, featuring the most powerful engine available – the 3.3-liter Lambda II RS T-GDi twin-turbo V-6 -- rear-drive with optional all-wheel drive and a unique multi-plate limited slip differential. The Stinger GT2 (along with the other trims) had a facelift for the 2020 model year, including a variable exhaust system that gave the car a mild 3hp boost.
