CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Buick Cascada
overall

Summary
With 130 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,346.00, 33.8% of 2016 Buick Cascadas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick Cascada 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick Cascada stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, and it leans hard into a classic open-air cruising feel. Buick tapped Opel for this bulky boulevard cruiser, which gives it a distinctive place in the brand’s lineup and helps explain its relaxed, old-school character.
That character is also what makes the Cascada appealing to buyers who want style and easygoing top-down driving more than cutting-edge innovation. The expert test drive data describes it as offering a classic cruising experience, but also says it has too little forward thinking to truly impress. Owner feedback reinforces the appeal of its beautiful styling and enjoyable driving experience, with many appreciating that it is fun to drive with the top up or down and noting a roomy back seat. At the same time, some drivers point to a complicated infotainment system, limited trunk space, and a lack of top-end power, which are worth keeping in mind.

Steering is tight, the suspension is firm, the seats go farther back than most convertibles. The lack of trunk space, and the lack of top-end power, are minor issues for me. The infotainment center of the dash is overly complicated, too.. It was a priority for me to have a functional rear seat, accommodating two adults. The Cascada haa the roomiest back seat in its class.

How much does the 2016 Buick Cascada cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,364 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,356.77 |
| Year-Round High | $14,441.19 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,418 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.31% |
Prices have softened 7.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 133 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $12,356.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada a good car?
Yes — the 2016 Buick Cascada earns a 5/5 user rating, and our experts give it 6.17/10.
The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful styling, enjoyable driving experience, and roomy back seat. They also like that it is fun to drive with the top up or down, which fits the Cascada’s relaxed open-air personality.
That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a Buick convertible that leans into classic cruising and easygoing top-down driving more than cutting-edge innovation.
Only 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with owners especially appreciating the car’s enjoyable driving character and the sense that it can be counted on as a pleasant cruiser. The expert test-drive notes also frame it as a simple, classic cruiser rather than a complicated performance machine.
Buick’s cost-effectiveness commentary suggests waiting for a better offer if you want more tech or a stronger drivetrain, which is a useful reminder that long-term ownership satisfaction may depend on whether you’re comfortable with the car’s older-school setup.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
At 65.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because this model’s appeal is tied to its open-air experience, you should also pay close attention to the top mechanism, interior wear, and whether the car’s features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Convertible trim already includes a power soft top, adaptive xenon headlights, remote engine start, heated 8-way leather power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 20-inch alloys, foglights, voice controls, smartphone integration, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors.
- Powertrain: You get a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, plus an overboost feature that briefly raises torque to 221 lb-ft. The car’s extra weight makes it feel underpowered, and the 6-speed automatic is part of the reason efficiency and response feel dated.
- Safety package: The standard safety setup includes antilock brakes, traction and stability control, a full airbag suite with front-seat side and front knee airbags, and deployable safety hoops for rollover protection. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
- Infotainment: The Cascada uses a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, but the system is described as old and somewhat confusing. Wireless phone integration and over-the-air capability are not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: The Cascada is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, for a combined 23 mpg.
Which 2016 Buick Cascada trim should I buy?
The 2016 Buick Cascada is offered in 2 trim levels: Convertible and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Convertible: This is the best-value trim because it already gives you the core Cascada experience: the power soft top, heated leather front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and smartphone integration. If you want the Cascada mainly for relaxed cruising and open-air style, this is the trim that gets you there without pushing the price up.
- Premium: Choose this trim if you want the added driver-assistance features and convenience upgrades, including forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors. It makes sense if you want the most complete version of the Cascada, but the jump in price is meaningful.
The safety content also notes that blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.
- Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 133 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,356.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick Cascada's resale value?
The current average of $13,364 sits slightly below last year's $14,418.
That decline suggests the Cascada has softened in the market, which can work against you if you’re planning to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more favorable point if you’re shopping now.
For a future seller, the key question is whether the car’s niche appeal and styling can hold demand over time. A model with a clear identity can still attract buyers, but the current price trend shows you should expect some depreciation pressure.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada safe?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet tested the Cascada, but Buick “anticipates” a five-star rating, for whatever that’s worth.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The Cascada comes with standard safety features like antilock brakes, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags including front-seat side and front knee airbags, and deployable safety hoops for rollover protection. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.
The expert safety notes also call out missing blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, along with an unimpressive braking distance, so you should weigh the car’s standard protection against those gaps.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick Cascada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years and delivers a classic cruising experience with a relaxed, old-school character.
The bottom line: If you want the Cascada’s distinctive open-air style and you’re comfortable with its older-school tech and modest performance, the 2016 is the year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping listings closely and focus on the best-condition example you can find, since the market is selective and accident history matters here.
