CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Honda Civic
overall

Summary
With 216 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $12,764, 28.7% of 2015 Honda Civics for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Honda Civic 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.
84.7% of 2015 Civic models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Honda Civic stands out as a compact economy car that delivers the basics buyers care about most: reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value. It is presented as a car that meets those expectations easily, while still offering more than the typical small-car formula. That combination makes it appealing to shoppers who want a straightforward, dependable daily driver without giving up the sense that they are getting a well-rounded package.
Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for its reliability, fuel efficiency, user-friendly design, smooth ride, and spacious interior. Those traits make it especially attractive for commuters and first-time car buyers. The main tradeoff is that some drivers find it lacking in power and note missing features compared with newer models, so its strengths are more about efficiency, comfort, and value than excitement.

The 2015 civic is a great value and great first car for a student or a commuter. It has great road feel, spunky power response, and good features. The visibility with the A-pillars is great thanks to the extra window. It will typically cost more vs. other competitors in the same class, but once you drive it you will understand why. I drove a Hyundai Elantra, which has almost all the same feature offerings in terms of technology and safety. For me, the Civic feels lighter, more powerful, more responsive.

How much does the 2015 Honda Civic cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,216 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,431 |
| Year-Round High | $12,262 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,070 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +1.21% |
Prices are up 1.21% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 2,189 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Honda Civic earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, user-friendly design, smooth ride, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Civic’s role as a straightforward compact economy car for commuters and first-time car buyers. If you want a well-rounded daily driver that emphasizes value over excitement, this model year fits that brief well.
29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the broader ownership picture reinforces that with praise for a dependable, trouble-free experience and strong value over time. The expert review also frames the Civic as a car that delivers the basics buyers care about most, including reliability and quality, while the cost-effectiveness notes highlight its strong ownership economics. It also comes with 3 years or 36,000 miles of free roadside assistance, which adds a little extra peace of mind early in ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core dependability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by age or mileage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda Civic?
At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and how the car drives, since a clean-looking listing can still hide past damage or deferred upkeep. If you’re comparing several examples, the best one is usually the one with the clearest paper trail and the least evidence of wear.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base LX trims are the most affordable, while the EX Sedan adds a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with HondaLink connectivity and services, automatic climate control, LaneWatch technology, push-button engine start, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and aluminum wheels. The Civic Hybrid is the most efficient, the Civic Si is the most fun to drive, and there is also a natural-gas version.
- Powertrain: Most Civics use a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 143 hp and a refined CVT. The setup is tuned for easy merging and climbing, and the car’s fuel economy is described as effortless, with combined driving in the low 30-mpg range.
- Safety package: Every 2015 Civic includes a standard reversing camera, and LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims. HondaLink Assist can automatically call authorities after a collision when paired and enabled.
- Infotainment: Every 2015 Civic includes Bluetooth calling and text-messaging. Above LX, you get a touchscreen infotainment system with HondaLink smartphone connectivity and services, a 7-inch touchscreen, Siri Eyes Free support, and app-based features through a paired smartphone.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA states 33 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 31.9 mpg without Econ mode engaged.
Which 2015 Honda Civic trim should I buy?
The 2015 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX Sedan, Civic Hybrid, Civic Si, and SE.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the least expensive path into the Civic, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and the core Civic experience without extra equipment.
- EX Sedan: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen, HondaLink, automatic climate control, push-button start, a power sunroof, and LaneWatch.
- Civic Hybrid: Choose this if efficiency is your top priority and you want the most fuel-focused version in the lineup.
- Civic Si: Pick this if you want the most fun-to-drive Civic and care more about performance character than everyday value.
- SE: This trim is part of the lineup, but the available content here does not add enough detail to separate it further.
LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims, so those lower trims miss that feature.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda Civic?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,189 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.21% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 48.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,431, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Honda Civic's resale value?
The current average of $12,216 sits slightly above last year's $12,070.
That modest increase suggests the Civic continues to hold buyer interest rather than losing value quickly. For a future seller, that’s a good sign: steady demand can help support pricing when you decide to trade in or list the car privately. The narrow gap between the yearly low and high also suggests the market is fairly stable, which can make timing less critical than condition and mileage.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic safe?
The 2015 Honda Civic earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Civic comes with a standard reversing camera, and HondaLink Assist can automatically call authorities after a collision when paired and enabled. LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims, but it is not a substitute for a traditional blind-spot monitoring system. The main caveat is that the safety setup varies by trim, so lower trims miss some of the added convenience and visibility tech.
Should I buy a 2015 Honda Civic or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 48.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.21% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The expert review says it delivers the basics buyers care about most while still offering more than the typical small-car formula.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $11,254, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,216 average.
- It feels refined and capable beyond its price point.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,940, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,216 average.
- It brings bolder styling, refinement, and build quality.
The bottom line: The 2015 is the right pick if you want a Civic that balances value, efficiency, safety, and strong owner satisfaction. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 is the better price-first alternative. If you want a newer-feeling Civic and can spend more, the 2016 is the more polished upgrade path.
